 Brief: 
This landscape was based on a local view of Cleeve and Nottingham hills, a view I see almost daily.
However as the painting progressed it seemed to need a different approach, I washed over the previously bright scene with pale blue and purple while scratching into and pulling off some of the semi dry paint to reveal the underlying painting. It now seemed to me to draw the viewer into the work as if on a journey. I intensified the drama of the sky by using vertical and swirling brush strokes.
